Abstract

PREVENT ADMIN DOMAIN APIS FROM BEING CALLED IN THE ADMIN DOMAIN
JOB

Error Description

Calling a cluster administrative domain exit program from within
the cluster administrative domain job can cause the API call to
hang indefinitely.  This happens when the API call tries to
invoke a cluster administrative domain protocol and wait for the
result, but the currently running protocol prevents the new
protocol from being started, and the currently running protocol
cannot progress until the API call returns.

Problem Summary

Calling a cluster administrative domain exit program from within
the cluster administrative domain job can cause the API call to
hang indefinitely.  This happens when the API call tries to
invoke a cluster administrative domain protocol and wait for the
result, but the currently running protocol prevents the new
protocol from being started, and the currently running protocol
cannot progress until the API call returns.
This scenario is unusual, and has only been seen when a cluster
administrative domain API is invoked as part of an exit program
which runs in the cluster administrative domain job.

Problem Conclusion

Calls to the any cluster administrative domain API from the
cluster administrative domain job will automatically fail with
an escape message indicating that the API was called from within
the cluster administrative domain job.

Temporary Fix

Comments

Circumvention

If a cluster administrative domain API must be called from an

exit program which can be invoked in the cluster administrative
domain job, consider submitting a job to do the API call rather
than calling the API directly.
