Abstract

OSP-MEDIA-TAPE RESTORE FROM PARALLEL SAVE FAILS

Error Description

A parallel restore using one *TAP device description continually
issues a MSGCPA4263 message even when a user loads a tape and
responds with 'R' to retry.

A DUPTAP times out after about 25HRs but it was still running.
The DUPTAP needs to allow a longer time for the DUPTAP to
complete to allow for larger tape files on media that has a
large capacity.

Problem Summary

A parallel restore using one *TAP device description continually
issues a MSGCPA4263 message even when a user loads a tape and
responds with 'R' to retry.

A DUPTAP times out after about 25HRs but it was still running.
The DUPTAP needs to allow a longer time for the DUPTAP to
complete to allow for larger tape files on media that has a
large capacity.

Problem Conclusion

The code has been changed to properly handle switching volumes
when a parallel save is being restored using one *TAP device
description.

The DUPTAP will now wait up to 72 Hours for a duplication of a
single file to complete.
