Abstract

VFY_LGL_DEPENDENTS #DOMTPTRX SQL0901 MCH1210 LOCK_SPANNING_VIEWS
Error Description
2 ALTER TABLE statements fail with a MCH3402 from QDBCHGFI
followed by a SQL0901.
An error message MCH1210 can be found ahead.
We are unable to get the lock so we keep retrying.
The 32,768th retry hits the limit on a BIN(15) field and causes
the MCH1210 which finally leads to the MCH3402 errors.
Problem Summary
Concurrent ALTER TABLE statements fail with a MCH3402 from
QDBCHGFI followed by a SQL0901. An error message MCH1210 can be
found ahead.
Problem Conclusion
This problem can occur when multiple concurrent ALTER TABLE
statements are running. The tables being altered have common
dependent view. Timing of the ALTER TABLE can result in a
deadlock situation that eventually results in the MCH1210.
Subsequent ALTER TABLE statements may result in the MCH3402
exception.
This ptf is preventative. Dependent views need to be deleted
for tables that failed with the MCH3402.
