Abstract

OSP-OTHER-LOOP SYSTEM JOBS WILL NOT END.

Error Description

System IASP Jobs are not ending during a Vary Off, but taking
cpu.  Servicedocs collection shows loop in RmslLockCheck.
However, further investigation using MSD showed QSPFILES is
involved in the loop.
So far, we have only seen this symptom on LPARS using IASPs.

Problem Summary

System IASP Jobs are not ending during a Vary Off, but taking
cpu.  Servicedocs collection shows loop in RmslLockCheck.
However, further investigation using MSD showed QSPFILES is
involved in the loop.
So far, we have only seen this symptom on LPARS using IASPs.

Problem Conclusion

The IASP vary off code path is changed to ensure that System
Jobs using IASPs are ended.  This will ensure that System Jobs
don't get stuck around after the IASP is varied off.
Vary off will now wait a maximum of 10 minutes for System Jobs
to end.  If there are system jobs that have not ended, a message
for each job will be output to QSYSOPR once per minute until the
10 minute timeout (or the jobs end).  If the system jobs have
still not ended by the end of the 10 minutes, the vary off will
continue. The message is CPF9898.
