SE58094: RATIONAL DEVELOPER FOR I SYSTEMS (RDI) SOURCE PROMPTER VIEW FOR RPGLE NOT AUTOMATICALLY UPDATING OUTPUT TYPE TO FIELD

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Rational Developer for i Systems (RDI) Source Prompter view
  for RPGLE programs is not updating the output Line type for
  Output:FieldDescription.  It works correctly in Rational
  Developer for Power systems (RDp) v8.5.
  
  In QSYS.LIB/Blah.LIB/QRPGLESRC.FILE/ORDENTR.RPGLE I added these
  3 lines:
       O          E            Test        1
       O                       TEST2         Z      4
       O                                           +2 'test'
  In RDp v8.5 when the Source prompter view opened and I
  click from line to line it will automatically detect the correct
  type of Output: Field Description, or Output: Record
  Description.
  However, in RDi v9.0.1, it does not detect the type of Output:
  Field Description.  If I scroll down from the first line to the
  second line it stays as Record Description, although in the LPEX
  Editor the format line correctly changes to Field Description.
  

Local fix

• Choose the correct OUTPUT type from the dropdown list.

  a Field Description line.
  

Problem conclusion

• This problem is fixed in the RDi 9.1.
