Abstract

OSP QAPMPOOLB cannot report pool sizes greater than 1TB

Error Description

The QAPMPOOLB file in a 9-digit k-byte field and as such cannot
show the real size of the pool if it exceeds 1 TB.

Problem Summary

The QAPMPOOLB file has a field size limitation that prevents
reporting pool size data greater than 999,999,999 KB. By design,
values larger than this are capped at the maximum reportable
value.

Problem Conclusion

This fix provides a circumvention for the limitation. Most
customers are not impacted by the limitation and will not be
affected by this change.  If you are impacted by this limitation
you may wish to manually update existing collection libraries
(see the PTF special instructions).

This circumvention adds two new fields to the end of the
QAPMPOOLB template file in QSYS. These new fields enable
Collection Services to report pool size data greater than 1TB.

After applying this PTF, new collection libraries will contain
the updated QAPMPOOLB file. Existing collection libraries must
be updated if the additional data is needed.  This includes the
current collection library.  The PTF special instructions
explain how to do this. Note: existing data collections that are
updated will not have data in the new fields. Those fields will
default to zero.  However, if you still have the *MGTCOLs for
those collections, you can run CRTPFRDTA again to produce the
additional pool size data.
