Abstract

OSP-INCORROUT DLTPFRCOL lock conflict

Error Description

DLTPFRCOL and DLTPFRDTA can fail to delete a collection because
SQL cursors are not being released correctly. This can occur
when Performance Data Investigator is used to display charts. If
this failure occurs, the QZDASOINIT jobs associated with
displaying the charts must be ended before DLTPFRCOL or
DLTPFRDTA can successfully delete the collection.

Problem Summary

DLTPFRCOL failed to delete a performance collection after
Performance Data Investigator was used to display charts for the
same performance collection. The job log contained CPIC721 and
CPIC722 messages stating that the performance collection item to
be deleted was not deleted because it was in use. This occurred
even though the charts were no longer displayed. DLTPFRDTA also
failed when the same collection was specified for the member
(MBR) parameter.

Problem Conclusion

The problem occurred because the QPYDLT program allocated a
lock, but did not request the release of conflicting locks that
were acquired implicitly by other system code running in other
jobs or threads. This problem has been fixed.
