APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Password function does not work when the logonId is specified in
a shortname format.

The following error occurs when running ResetPassword with the
logonId in a shortname format:

validateParameters The command cannot be completed because the
value specified for parameter "logonId" was incorrect.
[6/16/11 9:18:44:801 EDT] 00000030 bod           I   We do not
have a  record of a registered customer with that Logon ID.
Enter another LogonID and try again.

The command works if the logonId is specified in a full DN
format, for example:  uid=XXXX,ou=my employee org,o=root
organization.

Local fix

  • The user can temporarily use full DN as the logon ID if they
want to use the Reset Password functionality.

Problem summary

  • USERS AFFECTED:
Websphere Commerce users on v7 executing the ResetPassword
functionality who have Commerce configured with LDAP where the
DN format is different between LDAP and WC database.

PROBLEM ABSTRACT:
When WC is configured with LDAP, the Reset Password function
does not work when the logonId is specified in a shortname
format.

BUSINESS IMPACT:
Users may not be able to reset their passwords via the Reset
Password functionality.

RECOMMENDATION:

Problem conclusion

  • While executing the Reset Password functionality, the
UserSyncBean will now internally convert the LDAP DN to the
Commerce DN allowing the end user to use the shortname format.
