Abstract

MQM400 VALIDATEAUTH=NO DOES NOT MAINTAIN ERROR LOG PERMISSIONS

Error Description

The Filesystem stanza option ValidateAuth=No is
not maintaining the extended permissions set for
the error logs on iSeries after a rollover.  If *public
is granted authority to the error logs, the permissions
for *public is removed after the error logs rollover when
ValidateAuth=No is set.  Only the permissions for
QMQM and QMQMADM are being maintained.
ValidateAuth=No should maintain *public's permissions
after a rollover.

Problem Summary

USERS AFFECTED:
Users using ValidateAuth tuning parameter in qm.ini file will
be affected.

Platforms affected:
iSeries,All Unix

****************************************************************
PROBLEM SUMMARY:
If ValidateAuth is set to "No" in qm.ini, WMQ does not validate
and undo the file permission changes at queue manager startup.
This should hold true even when the queue manager error logs
roll over. However this is not the case. During queue manager
error log rollover, the queue manager resets error log
permissions to the default, instead of restoring the previous
set permissions.

Problem Conclusion

Changes have been made to restore the original permissions on
queue manager error logs during the rollover, if ValidateAuth
is set to "No" in qm.ini.
