Abstract

COMMAND SERVER FOR A CLUSTERED QUEUE MANAGER FAILING
WITH MCH0601 ON STARTING UP MQ EXPLORER

Error Description

When the WMQ Explorer or the PCF commands are used to display a
cluster queue manager, the command processor AMQPCSEA ends
abnormally with the joblog recording MCH0601 at statement 189 in
function pcmDisplayClusQmgr.

Problem Summary

USERS AFFECTED:
Users making use of PCF commands to display any cluster queue
manager might be affected if exit list information is corrupt in

PROBLEM SUMMARY:
When the WMQ Explorer or PCF commands are used to display a
cluster queue manager, the command processor AMQPCSEA ends
abnormally with the joblog recording MCH0601 at statement 189
in function pcmDisplayClusQmgr.
If the exit information is corrupt or invalid then there is a
high possibility of having an invalid exit name length or an
invalid exit data length. When displaying the cluster channels
having such invalid information, AMQPCSEA ends with an
exception. The exact reason for exit list corruption is still
unknown.

Problem Conclusion

Code changes were incorporated to ensure that exit list
information is valid before copying the exit details, thereby
avoiding the exception. If the exit information is found to be
invalid, an FDC is logged with the details, which will help IBM
support in further diagnosing the root cause.
