Abstract

MQM400 ENDMQM *ALL GENERATES FDC WITH PROBE ID XY043007

Error Description

When queue managers with listeners active are ended using
ENDMQM MQMNAME(*ALL) OPTION(*IMMED) ENDCCTJOB(*YES) the
following FDC gets generated.
 Probe Id   :- XY043007
 Component  :- xllSemGetVal
 Job Name   :- 201461/QMQM/AMQZMGR0
 Arith1     :- 3021 0x'bcd'
---
Apart from this FDC no other problem was observed. The queue
managers end successfully, shared memory resources also get
cleaned up and subsequent startup of the queue manager is
trouble free.

Problem Summary

****************************************************************
USERS AFFECTED:
All iSeries users who end queue managers with listeners active
using ENDMQM MQMNAME(*ALL) OPTION(*IMMED) ENDCCTJOB(*YES).

Platforms affected:

****************************************************************
PROBLEM SUMMARY:
When the command "ENDMQM MQMNAME(*ALL) OPTION(*IMMED) ENDCCTJOB
(*YES)" is issued, WMQ creates a list of queue managers
available and sequence them as per the entries in the mqs.ini
file. Then ENDMQM for each queue manager is issued with OPTION
(*IMMED) ENDCCTJOB(*NO) followed by ending all the listeners
associated with the queue manager.
Finally when all queue managers are ended cleanup of shared
memory resources takes place. While cleanup of shared memory
takes place this FDC is cut because the cleanup program removes
the shared resource before the process AMQZMGR0 is ended.
 -
The possibility of getting the 3021 FDC increases if the queue
manager is the last one in the ending sequence (as per sequence
of the entries in the mqs.ini file) and has listeners
associated. As there is always a possibility that AMQZMGR0 is
still in ending phase (as AMQZMGR0 process starts ending once
the listeners are ended provided no services are active) and by
that time the clean up program could have removed the shared
resources.

Problem Conclusion

Incorporated changes in the ENDMQM sequence to ensure that
AMQZMGR0 process ends before the cleanup program starts the
cleanup of the shared resources.

Circumvention

Two workaround exists:

a) End the listeners and then do ENDMQM *ALL *IMMED *YES
b) End queue managers usung ENDMQM <qmgr> *IMMED *YES
