PQ93727: JTREE DOES NOT PROCES KEYEVENT CORRECTLY WHEN USING MOTIF L&F

Error description

• When using the MOTIF L&F class
  com.sun.java.swing.plaf.motif.MotifLookAndFeel JTree does
  not respond correctly when the user navigates using the
  arrow keys.
  Select a node in the JTree, use the up/down arrows to move
  to a different node. The outline moves in response to the
  KeyEvent but the selected node does not change meaning that
  a TreeSelectionEvent is not fired to indicate that the node
  has actually been selected. Without this the application
  cannot respond to the tree being navigated.
  This works fine with both
  javax.swing.plaf.metal.MetalLookAndFeel and
  com.sun.java.swing.plaf.windows.WindowsLookAndFeel.
  

Local fix

Problem summary

• In Motif Look and Feel, when up/down arrow key is used,
  only the outline moves, instead of the node getting
  highlighted to indicate that the node has been actually
  selected.
  

Problem conclusion

• The problem was resolved by modifying the code to highlight
  the selected node when up/down arrow keys is used.

  To obtain the fix:
  Install build 20041007 or later
