Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: IMS Database Repair Facility -Version 1 * * Release 1 * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: This apar fixes some bugs, and delivers * * a new feature. The new feature is OSAM * * batch support. The major bugs fixed * * include 1) disallow raps display if * * block is beyond root-addressable area * * 2) disallow display of blocks that are * * allocated, buthave not been used by IMS * * yet 3) OSAM with odd blocksize not * * processed correctly4) UNDO fail for * * HALDB * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** OSAM batch is similar to existing VSAM batch. FABZOBAT is sample job. You can request a specifc block in an OSAM db ( via OBLK, or ORBA ), then DUMP,VER,REP are similar to VSAM batch documentation. Bug 2) if a block does not have a valid FSEAP, then IMS has not used it yet, and DBR does not show it. Bug 3) OSAM with odd blocksize has a 4G size limit, odd rba is a true, odd address. OSAM with even blocksize has a 8G size limit, odd rba represents address between 4G and 8G, according to IMS convention, subtract 1 from odd rba, then add 4G to yield an address between 4G and 8G. bug 4) failing scenario was... update a HALDB, update a non-HALDB, try to undo the HALDB, it fails.
Problem conclusion

Response: User has entered a odd-value RBA, invalid for VSAM FABZ085W: Blocks beyond Root-addressable area(&DRBN) do not contain RAPs. Response: set RAPs=N FABZ086W: Selected data set group (DSG) &DG does not exist. The number of dataset groups for this DBD is &DBDGCT Response: Specify DSG less than &DBDGCT FABZ087W: Selected pointer is invalid (odd-value) for VSAM. Response: Cannot select this pointer FABZ088W: This block does not contain a FSEAP, it does not contain current IMS data.
