Error description
IMS HD Reorg Reload receives ABENDS0C4-04 in DFSDLOC0 loading a file created by HP Unload. The error occurs because a flag in the trailer record is not set when there are no records to unload for a partitioned database.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM IMS High Performance * * Unload for OS/390 Release 1 (FMID=H1IN110) * * and all users of IPR Unload utility of * * IPR Parallel Reorganization for z/OS * * Version 2 Release 1 (FMID=H25N210) * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: 1. HP Unload does not set the RGPART * * flag in the trailer record in the *HD * * format unload data set when there is * * no segment record for a HALDB. * * 2. When no segment was retrieved, * * IPR Unload does not issue the HPSU3275W * * message * * 3. HSSR Engine returns the 'GB' status * * code for a GN call after it encounters * * the first partition that is not * * initially loaded. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the maintenance for this APAR. * **************************************************************** 1. Each unload utility of HP Unload does not set the RGPART flag(X'01') in the trailer record in the *HD format when there is no segment record for a HALDB. When the IMS HD Reorganization Reload utility uses the unload data set, it receives ABENDS0C4-04 in DFSDLOC0. 2. When no segment was retrieved from a data base and Segment Count Summary Report was printed, IPR Unload does not issue the HPSU3275W message. 3. HSSR Engine returns the 'GB' status code for a GN call after it encounters the first partition of PHDAM that is not initially loaded and the block number of the data set is lower than the high block number defined in the RECON. Application programs including the unload utilities cannot retrieve the segments from the succeeding partitions by GN calls.
Problem conclusion
This APAR modifies some modules of High Performance Unload as follows: 1. Each unload utility, FABHURG1, FABHFSU, or IPR Unload, set the RGPART flag (X'01') in the trailer record in the *HD unload data set only when there is no segment record for a HALDB same as the IMS HD Reorganization Unload utility does. 2. IPR Unload issues the HPSU3275W message when no segment was retrieved. 3. HSSR Engine internally issues another request to access the next partition after it reaches an unloaded partition.
