**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM IMS High Performance * * Load for OS/390 Release 1 (FMID=H1IM110). * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: This APAR provides Performance * * improvements. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the maintenance for this APAR. * **************************************************************** This APAR provides following Performance improvements: (1) to improve BSAM access efficiency to change the timing of buffer write for OSAM databases. The default value for the database buffer specification has been modified also. This reduces the elapsed time for OSAM databases. (2) to avoid high CPU time consumption on a z900 server. This reduces the CPU time for both OSAM and VSAM databases.

(1)The modules HPSRBFRM, HPAROSAM, HPSRMSGT and HPSRRRIN have been modified to improve BSAM access efficiency. (2)The module HPSRPTRS has been modified to avoid high CPU consumption on a z900 server. * ======================== = DOCUMENTATION CHANGE = ======================== Documentation Changes: IMS High Performance Load User's Guide (SC27093802) should be changed as follows: ------------------------------------------------------------ 2.0 Chapter 4. Select an appropriate value for the amount of database buffers based on your execution environment. 2.2.3.1.15 BUFFERNO Control Statement : If this control statement is not specified, the DBRLBUF specification is used. If neither BUFFERNO= nor DBRLBUF= is | specified, DBRLBUF=150 is assumed for VSAM, and DBRLBUF=45 is | assumed for OSAM. Note: You can reduce EXCPs by increasing the number of database buffers. | And for OSAM, the amount of database buffers must be | greater than the amount of access method buffers + 10 | tracks. You should select the suitable value for the number of database buffers based on your execution environment. : APPENDIX1.3 Appendix C. Messages and Codes APPENDIX1.3.3 Messages APPENDIX1.3.3.1 High Performance Load Messages >> Following new messages are added. HPSR0040I THE AMOUNT OF DATABASE BUFFERS ADJUSTED Explanation: High Performance Load adjusted the amount of database buffers specified by the DBRLBUF statement or the BUFFERNO statement. The amount of database buffers is adjusted as Following formula: The amount of the access method buffers(*1) + 10 tracks *1 Specified by the DBIOBUF statement or JCL System Action: The amount of database buffers is adjusted and High Performance Load continues processing. Programmer Response: None. Problem Determination: None.
