Problem summary

• ****************************************************************
  * USERS AFFECTED: Users of QCF running function UNLOAD         *
  *                 using batch job or using the panel's         *
  *                 options for deleting messages.               *
  *                 New return code - A074 - back from           *
  *                 IMS is indicating that all buffers           *
  *                 has been used and function unload for        *
  *                 current destination has been stopped.        *
  *                 QCF issues a warning message and skips       *
  *                 to next destination.                         *
  ****************************************************************
  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: IMS is in a hang state due to the fact  *
  *                      that most of the queue buffers are      *
  *                      being held by QCF.  There is no         *
  *                      limitation that QCF will put on queue   *
  *                      buffer usage.                           *
  *                       If a qbufmax  is specificed on         *
  *                      the system,there is no more expansion   *
  *                      allowed after these are  filled         *
  *                      The hang is waiting for a buffer to     *
  *                      free.                                   *
  *                       The U0113 occurred when a cancel was   *
  *                      done in an attempt to free up a region  *
  *                      and that region was in a DLI call       *
  *                      waiting for a queue buffer.             *
  ****************************************************************
  * RECOMMENDATION:   Install QCF and IMS APAR/PTF.              *
  *                   If QCF APAR/PTF is installed and           *
  *                 IMS APAR/PTF is not installed,               *
  *                 buffer protection will not work.             *
  *                   If QCF APAR/PTF is not installed           *
  *                 and IMS APAR/PTF is installed,               *
  *                 QCF will stop unload function                *
  *                 after return code A074.                      *

  QCF programs have been changed to continue unloading
  after reason A074 is returned from IMS call. The read
  destination is listed in a new report for QCF UNLOAD function.
  New error message explains the skip(scrap) destination:
  A074 : BUFFER OVRFLOW-SKIP DESTINATION
  

Problem conclusion

• IMS and QCF programs are changed to continue unload after
  A074.Install IMS APAR/PTF. If QCF APAR/PTF is installed and
  IMS APAR/PTF is not installed, buffer protection would not
  work. If QCF APAR/PTF is not installed and IMS APAR/PTF is
  installed- QCF will abend on return code A074.
