**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users intending to install Program * * Restart Facility for IMS with SMP/E and * * IMS versions 5.1, 6.1, 7.1, and 8.1. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Documentation changes to the Program * * Restart Facility User's Guide and * * sample members provided in the IRTSAMP * * library have not been consistently * * provided and/or updated for every IMS * * version. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** Documentation changes to the Program Restart Facility User's Guide and sample members provided in the IRTSAMP library have not been consistently provided and/or updated for every IMS version. Also a new option IMSLOGR=IGNORE is being added to allow users to specify that Program Restart Facility should always ignore whatever is specified in the JCL.
Problem conclusion
This APAR updates Documentation in the Program Restart Facility User's Guide and refreshes all members in the IRTSAMP library, used to customize Program Restart Facility for IMS for use with IMS versions 5.1, 6.1, 7.1, and 8.1. This maintenance will also delete some sample members in IRTSAMP that are no longer supported, and some load modules which are no longer used. This maintenance also corrects a problem where an externally specified CKPTID is always ignored by Program Restart Facility. The code is being modified to use the CKPTID specified in the JCL if the restart CKPTID recorded by PRF is considered to be in doubt. Also a new option IMSLOGR=IGNORE is being added to allow users to specify the PRF should always ignore whatever is specified in the JCL. This APAR is being Held for REASON(ACTION) because some of the usermods modifying IMS target zones have changed and need to be restored before re-applying them. The optional usermods MRT510B, MRT610B, MRT710B, and MRT810B, if applied, will need to be restored followed by re-receiving them using the updated IRTSAMP members IRTUM51B, IRTUM61B, IRTUM71B, and IRTUM81B. This APAR is being Held REASON(DOC). The following text describes the documentation changes to the IBM Program Restart Facility for IMS User's Guide and Reference Version 2 Release 1: for Chapter 1, the section titled "Hardware Requirements" should read: Hardware Requirements Program Restart is designed to operate on any machime capable of operating IMS Versions 5,6,7, and 8. For Chapter 1, the section titled "Software Requirements" should read: Software Requirements Program Restart requires SMP/E for installation and supports IMS Versions 5,6,7, and 8. For Chapter 3, the first bullet item in the introductory paragraph for the chapter should read: Installing Program Restart using SMP/E and IMS Version 5.1, 6.1, 7.1, or 8. For Chapter 3, the section titled "Installing Program Restart using SMP/E", the first paragraph should read: Installing Program Restart using SMP/E Program Restart can be installed with SMP/E on systems with IMS Version 5.1, 6.1, 7.1, and 8.1. The names of some of the install jobs and sample members are release dependent. To make things clear, the install instructions for each IMS version are presented separately here. For Chapter 3, the section titled "Installing Program Restart using SMP/E", the following text is added after the "IMS Version 7.1" paragraph: IMS Version 8.1 When using SMP/E to install on a system with IMS Release 8.1, follow these steps: Receive, Apply and Accept Program Restart using the instructions provided in the program directory. Apply SMP/E usermods MRT810A, MRT810B and MRT810D to your target IMS zone. Sample jobs IRTSR81A, IRTSR81B and IRTSR81D can be modified as necessary to receive the usermods. NEVER ACCEPT ANY OF THESE USERMODS INTO YOUR IMS DLIB ZONE. In all the SMP/E receive jobs, modify the //SMPCSI DD statement data set name to match the name of your SMP/E global CSI used to maintain your IMS zones. In addition, change the //SMPPTFIN DD statement to match the library name of your SIRTSAMP library. The members being received are IRTUM81A, IRTUM81B, and IRTUM81D. In all the SMP/E apply jobs, modify the //SMPCSI DD statement data set name to match the name of your SMP/E global CSI used to maintain your IMS zones and modify the IMSTZ81 target zone name to match the name of your IMS target zone. For job IRTSA81B, modify the //SIRTLOAD DD statement to match the SMP/E target data set name for the SIRTLOAD library. If you have a DDDEF defined for SDFSRESL, you can remove the //SDFSRESL DD statement: otherwise, modify the //SDFSRESL DD statement as required. For Chapter 3, the section titled "Maintaining Program Restart" should read as follows: Maintaining Program Restart If any maintainance is applied to the Program Restart target zone, it is necessary to reapply the Program Restart usermods into your IMS target zone as well. The usermods are: MRT510B and MRT510D if running with IMS Version 5.1 MRT610B and MRT610D if running with IMS Version 6.1 MRT710B and MRT710D if running with IMS Version 7.1 MRT810B and MRT810D if running with IMS Version 8.1 If any maintainance is applied to DFSRRC00, it is necessary to reapply usermod MRT510A, MRT610A, MRT710A, or MRT810A as well. Remember, do not accept any of the Program Restart usermods.
