Error description

  • When using dynamic allocation the following error messages
are received because the overflow dataset is not being
dynamically allocated:
IEC130I xxxxxxxx DD STATEMENT MISSING
IIUH0591E:  OPEN OF DBD=xxxxxxxx DDN=xxxxxxxx ESDS  --- OPEN
  FAILED
DFS2499W INVALID ALLOCATE REQUEST FOR DATABASE xxxxxxxx FOR
  REASON 2

Local fix

  • A workaround is to define the DD statements in the JCL for the
primary, overflow and secondary index datasets.

IB dynamic allocation routine didn't check for the overflow
HISAM data set.

Problem conclusion

  • IB dynamic allocation routine was fixed to handle the HISAM
overflow data set properly.
