Error description

  • PROBLEM DESCRIPTION(S):
    ***************************************************************
     * USERS AFFECTED: All IMS Program Restart Facility users
     ***************************************************************
     *
     * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Users wishing to manually verify the
     * restart checkpoint ID being provided by
     * PRF need an exit point that will be
     * called after the restart checkpoint ID
     * has been determined by PRF.
     *
     * RESOLUTION:
     * An exit point is being added which PRF will call prior to
     * completing the processing normally performed to support an
     * automatic extended restart after an earlier job has
     * abnormally terminated. Member IRTUX001 is being added to
     * the IRTSAMP library containing some sample assembler source
     * for such an exit. The user must link-edit a module called
     * IRTUX001 into any available STEPLIB/JOBLIB library normally
     * used by jobs running with IMS Program Restart Facility
     * support. If the return from module IRTUX001 is successful
     * or module IRTUX001 is not successfully loaded from the
     * STEPLIB/JOBLIB in use for the job, the extended restart
     * will continue executing as usual.
     *

USERS WISHING TO MANUALLY VERIFY THE RESTART CHECKPOINT ID
BEING PROVIDED BY PROGRAM RESTART FACILITY NEED AN EXIT
POINT THAT WILL BE CALLED AFTER THE RESTART CHECKPOINT
ID HAS BEEN DETERMINED BY PROGRAM RESTART FACILITY.

Problem conclusion

  • AN EXIT POINT IS BEING ADDED WHICH PROGRAM RESTART FACILITY
WILL CALL PRIOR TO COMPLETING THE PROCESSING NORMALLY PERFORMED
TO SUPPORT AN AUTOMATIC EXTENDED RESTART AFTER AN EARLIER JOB
HAS ABNORMALLY TERMINATED. MEMBER 'IRTUX001' IS BEING ADDED TO
THE 'IRTSAMP' LIBRARY CONTAINING SOME SAMPLE ASSEMBLER SOURCE
FOR SUCH AN EXIT. THE USER MUST LINK-EDIT A MODULE CALLED
'IRTUX001' INTO ANY AVAILABLE 'STEPLIB/JOBLIB' LIBRARY NORMALLY
USED BY JOBS RUNNING WITH IMS PROGRAM RESTART FACILITY SUPPORT.
IF THE RETURN FROM MODULE 'IRTUX001' IS NOT SUCCESSFULLY LOADED
FROM THE 'STEPLIB/JOBLIB' IN USE FOR THE JOB, THE EXTENDED
RESTART WILL CONTINUE EXECUTING AS USUAL.
