    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: User got ABEND0C4 in DFRNFCD7 for IMS *
    *                      V7 (DFRNFCD6 for IMS V6 and DFRNFCD8    *
    *                      for IMS V8) generating a recovered CI   *
    *                      bit map (//RCIBMAP DD statement)        *
    * against an Area having the size beyond *
    *                      2 GB.                                   *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION: INSTALL CORRECTIVE SERVICE FOR APAR/PTF *
    ****************************************************************
    The cause of the problem is that DFR compares CI RBA using
    arithmetic instructions in the logic, even if an Area has the
    size beyond 2 GB. If DFR did not get ANENDS0C4 (ie. if RCIBMAP
    DD statement were not specified,) DFR could recover VSAM CIs
    incorrectly for an Area having the size beyond 2 GB, because
    some of the DFR main line modules also use arithmetic
    comparisons for CI RBA. All these comparisons should be changed
    to logical instructions. This problem does not occur for the
    recovery an Area having the size less than or equal to 2 GB.

Problem conclusion

  • DFR should use logical instructions for the treatment of Area
    CI RBA.
