Error description
1. High Performance Load incorrectly handles X'FF' segment which is defined as fixed compressed segment. 2. The report statistics in VARIABLE LENGTH SEGMENT STATISTICS is incorrect for HIDAM and PHIDAM.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM IMS High Performance * * Load for OS/390 Release 1 (FMID=H1IM110). * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: (1) High Performance Load incorrectly * * handles X'FF' segment which is * * defined as fixed compressed * * segment. * * (2) The report statistics in VARIABLE * * LENGTH SEGMENT STATISTICS is * * incorrect for HIDAM and PHIDAM. * * (3) The report statistics in VARIABLE * * LENGTH SEGMENT STATISTICS is * * incorrect if following condition * * is satisfied: * * - variable length or fixed * * compressed segment. * * - some segments are placed in the * * SEQERROR DD data set. * * - the length of segments in * * sequence error is not grater * * than MIN length. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the maintenance for this APAR. * **************************************************************** (1) If the fixed length segment is compressed, High Performance Load adds 2 bytes to the length of X'FF' segment for every partition. Processing 2nd partition or after, the length of X'FF' segment is incorrect. (2) High Performance Load incorrectly reports LENGTH OF MAX in the VARIABLE LENGTH SEGMENT STATISTICS report for HIDAM or PHIDAM, because it incorrectly adds 2 bytes to the value for every partition. (3) High Performance Load incorrectly reports OCCURRENCES (VERSUS MIN) in the VARIABLE LENGTH SEGMENT STATISTICS report, the problem might occur when: - variable length or fixed compressed segment. - some segments are placed in the SEQERROR DD data set. - the length of segments in sequence error is not grater than MIN length. The reason of this problem is that the formula for calculating each OCCURRENCES is incorrect.
Problem conclusion
HP Load utility has been modified as follows: - Modify HPSRHDL6, HPSRHDLD7, HPSRHDL8, HPSRHSL6, HPSRHSL7, HPSRHSL8, HPSRRLD7 and HPSRRLD8 to handle X'FF' segment, and to report the VARIABLE LENGTH SEGMENT STATISTICS correctly.
