Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: Any TSM server users of DRM. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The QUERY/MOVE DRMEDIA <volume_name> * * may incorrectly indicate that a * * database backup volume is in * * VAULTRETRIEVE state. * * * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: Apply fix in PTF. * **************************************************************** The QUERY/MOVE DRMEDIA <volume_name> may incorrectly indicate that a database backup volume is in VAULTRETRIEVE state. DRM indicates that a database backup volume is in VAULTRETRIEVE if the volume is at the vault , and it is associated with a database backup series that is expired. A full plus incremental or snapshot database backup series is eligible for expiration if all the following conditions are met: - The age of the last volume of the series has exceeded the expiration value of the SET DRMDBBACKUPEXPIREDAYS command - The series is not the latest full plus incremental database backup series or snapshot database backup series - For volumes that are not virtual volumes, all the volumes in the series are in the VAULT state. Customers using the QUERY/MOVE DRMEDIA <volume_name> to process database backup volumes that are at the VAULT may find that the state assigned to some of volumes is VAULTRETRIEVE before the their database backup series is eligible for expiration. This problem may occur when: - the volume name entered with the QUERY or MOVE DRMEDIA commands is fully specified, - the age of the volume has exceed the expiration value of the SET DRMDBBACKUPEXPIREDAYS command, but the age of the last volume of the series has NOT. The problem described here does not apply to the QUERY DRM command, the QUERY DRMEDIA <volume_name> or MOVE DRMEDIA <volume_name> command when the parameter <volume_name> contains wildcard characters, or the SQL SELECT command used to obtain information from the DRMEDIA table.
Problem conclusion
The TSM/DRM code was fixed to report the correct volume state.
