Error description

  • In DB2 Admin Tool, using CX line command to CREATE INDEX in

in which a default value is specified as PIECESIZE K .
    .

    size msgdsnt408i
    DSNT408I SQLCODE = -104, ERROR: ILLEGAL SYMBOL "K". SOME
SYMBOLS THAT MIGHT BE LEGAL ARE: <INTEGER> <BIG_INTEGER>

Local fix

  • Edit the CREATE INDEX statement before submitting for execution,
or specify a valid value for PIECESIZE

"CREATE INDEX WITH CX COMMAND WITH NO PIECESIZE VALUE" results
    in SQLCODE104

Problem conclusion

  • The following two problems are fixed:
If PIECESIZE value not specified, option is generated anyway
    as 'PIECESIZE K'
If PIECESIZE value not specified, but unit is indicated (K,M,G),
    option is incorrectly generated
Both situations result in SQLCODE-104 when executed.
