APAR status

Error description

  • The RSA Signed applets are taking a long time to load with IBM
    JDK 1.3.0_01 plugin. The Security checking is done for each and
    every class. You can observe the security checking taking place
    for each and every class when you set the trace level to 3 in ja
    va console of the Netscape 6.0 browser. The same problem is bein
    g observed with SunJDK 1.3.0_01,1.3.0_02,1.3.0_03 versions of pl
    ugins. But the problem does not exist in base versions i.e,
    SunJDK 1.3.0 & 1.3.1 Plugins.
    

Local fix

  • Currently IBM JDK 1.3.0 ships 1.3.0_01 version of plugin. Protec
    tion Domain Cache was removed in 1.3.0_01 plugin because of a
    security hole. That's why it is taking longer time to load signe
    d jar files because protection domain must be determined for
    each single class. This issue has been taken care now by introdu
    cing a smarter cache.
