PQ48914: USING ALTER (ALC) TO CHANGE A TIMESTAMP COLUMN RESULTS IN ERROR.

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Attempting to update a timestamp column's default using ALTER
  results in error message, "Invalid New Data Type".
  This happens when:
   1. From main menu, choose option 1 DB2 System Catalog.
   2. Then enter T to get a list of tables.
   3. Next put the ALC line command next to the table to be
      altered.
   4. Now put a U on the line of the timestamp column that you
      want to update and change the default from N to Y.
   5. An error message, "Invalid New Data Type" is returned.
