PQ34389: HLASM TOOLKIT PROGRAM UNDERSTANDING TOOL INCORRECTLY PROCESSES MACRO CROSS REFERENCE RECORDS (X'0062') UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS

Error description

• This APAR has been raised against HLASM Toolkit 1.2.0 to have
  the Program Understanding Tool correctly process Macro Cross
  Reference Records (x'0062') which contain zero Number of
  References in the record.  This is needed for both the Windows
  and OS/2 platforms.

  *                         OS/2 issues MSGASMP003E "ASMP003E    *
  *                         Unable to find Adata header at       *
  *                         offset nnnnnn" when processing HLASM *
  *                         1.3 ADATA.                           *
  *                      2. ASMPUT for Windows causes access     *
  *                         violation exception and terminates   *
  *                         abruptly when processing ADATA file. *

  * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
  ****************************************************************
  1. If the ADATA file contains a Library member and Macro Cross
     Reference (X'0062') Record with zero number of references
     within the record, then ASMPUT will issue ASMP003E message.
  2. If the ADATA file contains addressing-mode switch code that
     sets the top bit of the register used in a subsequent BSM
     instruction, then this may cause an access violation, or
     cause the control flow graph to display incorrect program
     flow.
  

Problem conclusion

• Version 1 Release 3 of ASMPUT for Microsoft Windows 95/98/NT4
  and ASMPUT for IBM OS/2 has been modified to:
  1. Correctly process ADATA X'0062' records with zero number of
     references.
  2. Correctly process switch to 31-bit addressing mode.
