Error description

  • Default install of Lotus Domino Go Webserver on Warp4 with
    TCP/IP 4.1. At midnight, during processing of logs and reports,
    SYS0317 - Msg 0078 not found in OSO001.msg appears. No register
    values.
    .
    IPTRACE shows DNS lookup is done for the wwwserver's own
    hostname.

    Problem can be recreated by changing system clock with TIME
    command to seconds before midnight. Within 20 seconds, error
    occurs. Problem cannot be recreated on TCP/IP 4.0.

Local fix

  • Disabling the default AccessReportTemplate is a workaround I
    tested and also works for customer.
     -This access report uses AccessReportTopList to generate a list
      of Top50 files.
    .
    Comment out:
    AccessReportTemplate  Top50  {
        AccessReportDescription Top 50 most frequently requested
        AccessReportTopList        50
    }

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: A protection exception occurs on OS/2 *
    *                      when running webusage.                  *

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    The webusage program is not checking whether the call to
    gethostbyname() is successful or not. If it is not successful,
    the code goes ahead and tries to use the resulting structure
    (whose address is zero). This results in a protection exception
    under OS/2. There are no known external symptoms on other
    platforms, but the error does exist.

Problem conclusion

  • File WUlog.c will be changed to correctly check the success or
    failure of each call to gethostbyname().

    The following COMPID's are affected by these changes:

    5697C5800 LDGW for OS/390  Version 4.6
    5697A37L0 LDGW for OS/2    Version 4.6
    5697A43L0 LDGW for Win/NT  Version 4.6
    5697A45L0 LDGW for Solaris Version 4.6

    5639D54L0 LDGW for Win/95  Version 4.6
    5697D4300 LDGW for OS/390  Version 5

    The code changes are stored in CMVC under defects PQ17927,
    PQ17927a and PQ17927b.
