Error description

  • The TME 10 OPC V2R1 manual SH19-4484-00 - TRACKER AGENTS FOR
    AIX/UNIX/VMS PLATFORMS INSTALLATION AND OPERATION - does not
    provide required information on installation and operation of
    the VMS TRACKER AGENT. Critical information regarding the
    requirement to start a POSIX SHELL and operate the TRACKER AGENT
    from within that shell has been omitted. The following update
    needs to be added to the end of the "OpenVMS VAX/Appha ONLY"
    section of the manual (pages 48-50):
    ****************************************************************
    * Operating the tracker agent
    - login as 'TRACKER' user
    - the posix prompt appears:
      psx>
      (in fact the installation procedure sets the shell for TRACKER
      as POSIX shell)
    - the current directory will be the one specified during install
    - edit .profile and export tracker environment variables:
      EQQDISK, EQQHOME, EQQINSTANCE, PATH
    - edit tracker configuration file in $EQQHOME/etc
    - run tracker commands (eqqverify, eqqstart, eqqstop,...)
    ----------------------------------------------------------------

    * USERS AFFECTED: ALL TME 10 OPC V2R1 USERS THAT ARE *

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    TME 10 OPC V2R1 manual SH19-4484-00 'Tracker Agents for
    AIX/UNIX/VMS Platforms Installation and Operation' should
    be updated as for error description and also in Appendix I.

Problem conclusion

  • TME 10 OPC V2R1 manual SH19-4484-00 'Tracker Agents for
    AIX/UNIX/VMS Platforms Installation and Operation' should
    be updated at page 50 as follows:
    ----------------------------------------------------------------
    * Operating the tracker agent:
    - login as user TRACKER
    - the POSIX prompt appear:
      psx>
      (in fact the installation procedure sets the shell for the
      user TRACKER as POSIX shell)
    - edit .profile and export tracker environment variables:
      EQQDISK, EQQHOME, EQQINSTANCE, PATH
    - edit tracker configuration file in $EQQHOME/etc
    - run tracker commands (eqqverify, eqqstart, eqqstop,...)
    ----------------------------------------------------------------
    Also, the manual should be updated at page 117 (Appendix I),

    Agent.
