PN87898: BRACKET PROTOCOL PROBLEM WITH TELNET BEING IN BRACKETS WHEN CICS SENDS A BID AND TELNET GIVES A POSITIVE RESPONSE TO THE BID

APAR status

• Closed as returned (APAR cannot be resolved without additional info from IBM or customer.)

Error description

• The TCPIP LU sends a begin bracket with change direction BB CD
  to enter bracket state. At the same time cics does a BID (C8)
  and telnet gives a positive response to the BID, and CICS
  V3.3 detects that we are out of synch and UNBINDS the session.
  Telnet needs to check for bracket state before issueing a
  positive response to the BID request from CICS.

• This APAR is being returned due to unresolved test results.
  The originating customer was in the process of migrating to
  R320 (V3.2) of TCP/IP and did not wish to pursue the problem.
