Error description

  • TCP/IP V3.1 CANNOT TRANSLATE CORRCTLY JISCII (KANA) TO EBCDIC
    WITH SJISKANJI OPTION USING MODIFIED TCPKJBIN TABLE FOR KANA.
     THIS PROBLEM OCCURRES WHEN TCP/IP V3.1 ATTEMPTES TO TRANSLATE
    SBCS (JAPANESE KANA) FROM RS/6000 (WORK STATION) TO EBCDIC WITH
    MODIFIED TCPKJBIN. IT IS MODIFIED JISCII TO EBCDIC FOR KANA.
     TCP/IP V3.1 ADDES SOSI(X'0E',X'0F') SBCS (KANA) AND TRANSLATES
    SBCS TO X'FFFFFFFF'. X'FF' IS EVEN BYTES OFEN.
     THIS PROBLEM OCCURRES IN V3.1 BECAUSE TCP/IP V3.1 HAS CHANGED
    THE WAY OF TRANSLATION MANNER FROM V2.2.1.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: Pascal FTP users of SJISKANJI for kana data. *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: For transfers of SJISKANJI (TYPE B 1) *
    * data to the MVS host, kana characters *
    *                      will be stored as x'0EFF..FF0F'.        *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    For SJISKANJI (TYPE B 1) ascii-to-ebcdic translation,
    all values from x'81' through x'FC' were interpreted as 1st
    byte of double byte, so the single-byte kana characters from
    x'A0' through x'DF' wre not recognized as SBCS.

Problem conclusion

  • Module EZAJTCV (alias CMDBCSCV) has been modified to recognize
    the two discontigous ranges for ascii double byte when the
    transfer type is SJISKANJI.
