Error description

  • EPDM RD/2 INSTALL process gives error msgs:
    (DR1.V1R1M0.SDRLBENU(DRLCPKGE)) line 222:
EPFIE102: 'install ]] update ]] restore' is not a valid
    value for the 'exitwhen' keyword.
Customer found the problem is in receiving characters x'BB' and
x'71'from host that becomes the "exclamation-mark"and the "acute
capital E" (x'21 x'90') ASCII in the PC
If we edit theese in the host to x'4F' and x'E0' we RECEIVE in
    PC the correct values "|" and "\" (x'7C' x'5C')
We suspect tape was uncorrectly uploaded to host to a not good
    codepage.
c/t recomended to define Host codepage as US, and PC codepage
(850,437) in Communications Manager file transfer profile but
it doesnt works. We received "closing square bracket" and "acute
    capital E" (x'5D' x'90') instead of "|" and "\" (x'7c' x'5c')
We tried again with English Host codepage 285 but received
same as US. The only host codepage that RECEIVES the expected
values "|" and "\" is 278.This is Swdish codepge...???
    Suspected bad distributed tape
Circunvention was editting to correct values.
For a correct error msg description see 2919x,300,838.

Special characters in installation text for RD/2 Dialog
are changed in downloaded file depending on used codepage.

Problem conclusion

  • The update only has to be performed once for the PACKAGE file
regardless of the number of workstations to be installed on.

     UPDATE OF PACKAGE FILE
     ----------------------

      1. RECEIVE PACKAGE.FIL N: LANGUAGE_DATASET(PACKFILE)
         ASCII H(278) P(850) CRLF

      2. SEND PACKAGE.FIL N: LANGUAGE_DATASET(PACKFILE)
         ASCII CRLF

      Where:
PACKAGE.FIL is the temporary name on the pc.
N is the short name for the host session
                        (for example A).
LANGUAGE_DATASET is dependent on your RD/2 version
(see Reporting Dialog/2 Feature Guide: SH19-6843).
       PACKFILE is:
DRLCPKGE - english version, MVS to Workstation installation
DRLLANPE - english version, MVS to LAN Server installation
DRLCPKGD - german version, MVS to Workstation installation
DRLLANPD - german version, MVS to LAN Server installation

Example: MVS to Workstation installation PACKFILE,
               german version,
               from host session A,
               DRL110.SDRLBDEU MVS dataset

      RECEIVE PACKAGE.FIL A: DRL110.SDRLBDEU(DRLCPKGD) ASCII H(278)
              P(850)
      SEND PACKAGE.FIL A: DRL110.SDRLBDEU(DRLCPKGD) ASCII CRLF
