Error description
Provide support for datasets on Tape during Extract, Insert, Load, Convert and Create functions. The extract dataset can now be created on a Tape media. This new function also introduces the ability to register the extract files in the Optim Directory and also LIST the extract files that were created on DASD and Tape devices. Users will also have the ability to IMPORT old extract files and register them in the Optim Directory. New User/Site options and BATCH keywords will govern the registration of extract files. All of the panel changes and Batch Keyword changes are documented in Infocenter for Optim/z v7.2.0

Problem conclusion
Optim/z clients have requested the ability to write extract files directly to Tapes. This new function PTF will provide the following functions:- 1. Ability to create Extract files on Tapes. Tape Volser, Label and Unit type should be entered by the user. EXTRACT_FILE(DSNAME PSTJS.EXTRACT.DDAF.DASD2 MODE REP TAPE YES VOLUME JSTAPE FILENBR 1 UNIT CTAPE) 2. Ability to perform INSERT, DELETE, LOAD, CREATE and CONVERT operations using Extract files stored on Tapes. 3. Operations with tape can be performed only using Batch jobs. 4. Optionally, register/catalog DASD Extract files in the Optim directory. 5. LIST and IMPORT functions to allow the users to manage both DASD and Tape Extract files. 6. Functional security exit sample to manage access to LIST and IMPORT functions. 7. New User and Site Options:- Register DASD Extract file ===> N Y-Yes, N-No, U-User Replace Extr Dir in Batch ===> N Y-Yes, N-No, U-User 8. Batch Utility statements/Keywords:- a. SKIP_EXT_CATALOG (YES/NO) - Batch keyword to skip registering the Extract file. If you skip registering an Extract file on Tape, it can not be used in processes like INSERT, CONVERT, CREATE etc., unless it is IMPORTed. b. REPLACE_EXT_DIR (YES/NO) - Batch keyword to replace an existing Extract directory entry. c. Syntax for the BATCH Utility Statements DIR and DELETE will include a new TYPE EXT (for Extract). Examples:- DIR TYPE ALL NAME % == Will ALL objects in the Optim Directory including EXTRACT Definitions. DIR TYPE EXT NAME PSTJS.RFM138.V720.DDAF.BATCH.XF1.DATA.CTAPE == Will list the Extract file following the NAME parameter if it exists in the Optim Directory. DELETE TYPE EXT NAME PSTJS.RFM138.V720.DDAF.BATCH.XF1.DATA.CTAPE == Will let you delete a specific EXTRACT File entry from the Optim Directory. d. Syntax for the BATCH Utility Statement REPORT will include a new keyword RPTTYPE EXT Example:- REPORT NAME PSTJS.RFM138.V720.DDAF.BATCH.XF1.DATA.CTAPE DDNAME PSDFRPR2 RPTTYPE EXT WRAP_LINE NO For more details please refer to the IBM Info Center for Optim.
