Error description
DB2DDF Defect pm99142 dpm99142 SQLCODE -4700 is returned to the end user application when a DB2 10 NFM requester flows the prepare statement attribute 'WITH EXTENDED INDICATORS' to a downstream server which does not support this statement attribute. An example of a downstream server that does not support this attribute is DB2 10 CM. The problem can occur using JCC Type 2 driver for z/OS (when it connects to local DB2 and hops out) or JCC Type 4 driver (when it connects to a remote DB2 and hops out). ************************************************************** Additional Symptoms and Keywords: SQLCODE -4700 SQLCODE4700 SQL4700N SQL04700N enableExtendedIndicators JCCT2ZOS JCCT4 DSNHSM3D
Local fix
Local workaround is to disable the JCC driver property for "enableExtendedIndicators"
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All Distributed Data Facility (DDF) users. * * Specifically where client applications use * * an IBM Java Data Server driver (Type 2 or 4) * * to access a DB2 10 New Function Mode (NFM), * * or higher, system. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: SQLCODE -4700 may be returned when an * * IBM Java Data Server, Type 2 or 4, * * based driver application accesses a DB2 * * 10 for z/OS NFM, or higher, subsystem * * and executes SQL that refers to a * * remote DB2 10 for z/OS Conversion Mode * * (CM), or lower, subsystem. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** When an IBM Java Data Server Driver (Type 2 or 4) based application accesses a DB2 10 for z/OS NFM (or higher) subsystem, the driver recognizes DB2 10 NFM support and may therefore associate SQL with a "WITH EXTENDED INDICATOR" attribute string. However, if the SQL refers to a remote DB2 10 for z/OS CM (or lower) server, DB2 requester processing incorrectly propagates the "WITH EXTENDED INDICATOR" attribute to the remote server. The remote DB2 for z/OS server returns SQLCODE -4700 because it does not support the "WITH EXTENDED INDICATOR" attribute.
Problem conclusion
Relative to IBM Java Data Server Driver based applications, DB2 10/11 for z/OS requester processing has been changed to no longer propagate the "WITH EXTENDED INDICATOR" attribute to remote DB2 for z/OS subsystems that do not support the value.
Temporary fix
