PM96636: IN RUNNING OPC WITH FULLSTEP=YES, ONLY ONE RETURN CODE GETS RETURNED AS IT IS ONLY ONE STEP WITH THAT MODE

Error description

  • When using OPC with FULLSTEP=YES we only get one return code in
that mode. This could mask error run in subsequent steps such a
    as FABCUR3 and FABCUR5.
As part of this change we're looking to provide a new keyword
to give users control in calling FPXRCEX0 or not.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: OPC always calls FPXRCEX0 if it is *
    * included in STEPLIB or JOBLIB. *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the maintenance for this APAR. *
    ****************************************************************
When the return code user exit routine FPXRCEX0 is included in
STEPLIB or JOBLIB, OPC always calls it. For the OPC jobs using
the same STEPLIB and JOBLIB, the user cannot control that some
jobs call FPXRCEX0 and the other jobs don't call FPXRCEX0.

Problem conclusion

  • OPC, OER and ODE have been modified to provide a new keyword
RCEXLOAD. The RCEXLOAD keyword specifies whether to call
    FPXRCEX0.

     RCEXLOAD

The RCEXLOAD keyword specifies whether to call the return
code exit routine FPXRCEX0 from STEPLIB or JOBLIB.

The RCEXLOAD keyword is an optional keyword for the following
     statements:

     . ANALYZE statement of OPC
     . REORG statement of OER
     . EXTRACT statement of ODE

       |  >>--- RCEXLOAD= --+-- YES --+------><               |

       +------------------------------------------------------+

The variable fields are defined as follows:

YES: FPXRCEX0 will be called if it is included in STEPLIB or
            JOBLIB.

You can specify just Y rather than YES.

NO: FPXRCEX0 will not be called even though it is included
            in STEPLIB or JOBLIB.

You can specify just N rather than NO.

Default: YES, if the RCEXLOAD keyword is not specified.

     Site default support: Supported.

     Restrictions:
The RCEXLOAD keyword can be specified only in FPXIN.

4.10 Return code user exit routine (FPXRCEX0)

The following description should be modified:

    Before

.If FPXRCEX0 is found by OPC, ODE, or OER, it will be called
no matter what the return code is.

    After

.If FPXRCEX0 is found by OPC, ODE, or OER, and RCEXLOAD=NO is
not specified, it will be called no matter what the return code
    is.
