  * a several times (Each time just close the search window      *
  * without doing anything and open it again).  Each time the    *
  * window is slower to open.                                    *

Problem conclusion

• Handles were being allocated in a list but not used or freed up;
  so the list got ever longer and slower to navigate.  Fixed the
  allocation.
