Error description
Customer is attempting to use SAFRunAs to force requests to be issued under a different UserId. But all attempts have resulted in ICH408I errors issued against the HTTP Server UserId rather than the SAFRunAs UserId.
Local fix
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: IBM HTTP Server users of the optional * * mod_authnz_saf on z/OS server * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Configuring with SAFRunAs to run * * under the client UserID does not * * work if the server UserID does not * * also have authority to the file. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** The switch to the SAFRunAs UserID was not happening early enough in the processing and the request would fail if the server UserID did not have authority to the file as well.
Problem conclusion
SAFRunAs has been enhanced to allow switching to the configured UserID in an earlier phase of processing, to allow IBM HTTP Server to serve files it cannot itself read. New Syntax, valid only in global and <virtualHost> context: Example 1, change the threads identity to the SSL client authentication provided identity for URLs under /prefix: SAFRunAs %%CERTIF%% /prefix Example 2, change early to users home directory (assumes mod_userdir is configured) SAFRunAs %%CERTIF%% / ï ô Example 3, change the threads identity to a specific surrogate userid for URL's under /prefix: SAFRunAs surrogate-username /prefix Notes: No other values are permitted as the second argument. The server will not switch identities twice during a request if SAFRunAS is also configured using the one-argument version inside of <Location> or <Directory> context. This feature can be used in conjunction with "AuthBasicProvider saf". This fix is targeted for IBM HTTP Server fix packs: - 7.0.0.31 - 8.0.0.8 - 8.5.5.2
