Error description

  • The Application Migration tool should be modified to handle
    applications that use T3 protocol. T3 protocol should be
    switched to IIOP protocol.
    -
    An example of the change.
    From:
    InitialContext ic =
    getInitialContext("t3://" + host + ":" + port);
    to
    InitialContext ic =
    getInitialContext("corbaloc:iiop://" + host + ":" + port);

    *                  Server Migration Tool.                      *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The WebSphere Application Migration *
    * tool did not flag all WebLogic T3 *
    * protocol strings that were flagged in *
    * Java, XML and properties files. *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION: The recommendation is to create an XML and *
    * a properties file rule to handle scanning *
    *                  for T3 properly.                            *
    ****************************************************************
    T3 is a propietary protocol that must be migrated when an
    application is moved to WebSphere Application Server. The
    application can use iiop: instead. If the migration toolkit
    flagged all cases, the migration process would be improved.

Problem conclusion

  • The toolkit modified the existing Java T3 rule (Do not use the
    T3 protocol or weblogic-specific context factory) and added 2
    rules to scan XML and properties files.

    The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
    WebSphere Application Server Migration Toolkit service release
    3.5.3 which will be available concurrently with the WebSphere
    8.5.5.1 fixpack.

    The service release will be made available on the migration
    toolkit's developerWorks site:
    http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/websphere/downloads/migtoolkit
    /index.html
