APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • If a report attached to a package which has multiple data
    sources is executed from within IBM Cognos Connection.  The
    report consumer is presented with a "Select a Connection" dialog
    box for each of the data sources defined within the package.  If
    this same report is executed from within IBM Cognos Report
    Studio or the previous IBM Cognos 10.2 release.  The report
    executes without prompting a user to select a connection as
    expected.    This issue is caused by a defect within the IBM
    Content Manager cache data feature added to the IBM Cognos
    10.2.1 release.

Local fix

  • The workaround is to disable this feature using an advanced envr
    ionment setting on the ReportService.  Prior to setting any adva
    nced environment setting, it should be confirmed that a valid IB
    M Cognos content backup has been taken via a tried and proven me
    thod.    To disable this feature:  1  On each of the IBM Cognos
    Dispatchers within the environment, click on the properties of t
    he ReportService within IBM Cognos Administration\Configuration\
    Dispatchers and Services\<DispatcherName>.    2  Click on the Se
    ttings tab.  3  Click on the Edit link for the Environment Advan
    ced settings.  4  Check the Override the settings acquired from
    the parent entry check box.  5  Add the Parameter: RSVP.CONTENTM
    ANAGER.USECACHE.  6  Add the Value: cmcs  for the parameter abov
    e.      When completed a new advanced setting row should exist w
    ith the Parameter entry of RSVP.CONTENTMANAGER.USECACHE and a va
    lue of cmcs.  The value should be in lower case for this entry.
       7  Click the OK button at the bottom left of the screen.    T
    he setting will take affect within a few minutes.  The IBM Cogno
    s BI service does not need to be stopped and re-started.
