APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • In some cases when a DB2 STOP command is issued for a space, the
next DISPLAY command shows the status equal to RW rather than
STOPP or STOP. Command processing of the space is marked as
completed as there is no awareness that the last command issued
was STOP, not START. If the space does not go into STOP status
before it's required, for copy as an example, an error can
result as the dataset cannot be allocated for the copy.
    .
The code has been changed to recognize that the space is not
stopped and continue to display the status of the object until
the space is in STOP status or the time out expires.

Local fix

  • Before cloning begins issue STOPs for all source and target
spaces and wait for STOP status for all objects.
