Error description

  • Error message received:
FPX0233E Syntax errors were detected in FPXIN JCL stream

This message is shown when both FPXIN DD and FPXOPTS DD are
specified for OPC and OER JCL's. An ABEND0C4 also occurs when
both FPXIN DD and FPXOPTS DD are specified for ODE and ODM
    JCL's. This ABENDS0C4 occurs at DFSRRC10 offset x'274'.
Prior to the ABENDS0C4, two ABENDS0C1's were seen:
    ODE: S0C1 in FPXD0000 offset x'34C'
    ODM: S0C1 in FPXUSIT0 offset x'254'

    Additional Keywords: S0C4 MSGFPX0233E ABEND0C1 ABENDS0C1

    * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the maintenance for this APAR. *
    ****************************************************************
    1. FPX0233E message is issued or JOB ended abnormally when both
FPXIN DD statement and FPXOPTS DD statement are specified
in each JCL of OPC, OER, ODE, and ODM.

Return code of each Online Tool is as follows:

     OPC: RC=08 with FPX0233E message
     OER: RC=08 with FPX0233E message
FPX0233E Syntax errors were detected in FPXIN JCL stream.
     ODE: S0C4 abend
     ODM: S0C4 abend
ABENDS0C4 of ODE and ODM occurs at DFSRRC10 offset
              x'274'.
Prior to the ABENDS0C4, two ABENDS0C1's were seen:
              ODE: S0C1 in FPXD0000 offset x'34C'
              ODM: S0C1 in FPXUSIT0 offset x'254'

    2. OPC issues FPX0110I messages for expanded CIs beyond LB and
    LE after OAE SDEP expansion.

FPX0110I CI formatted by Create Utility encountered,
                   CI was skipped.
          FPX0110I RBA of CI: xxxxxxxx

Problem conclusion

  • 1. When both FPXIN DD statement and FPXOPTS DD statement were
specified in their JCLs, the address of the main control block
was destroyed after analyzing FPXOPTS DD statement.
Consequently error situation (syntax error or abend) occurred
when the programs referred the fields in the main control block
    next time.
The common module that analyzes FPXIN and FPXOPTS DD statements
has been modified not to destroy the address of the main control
block after analyzing FPXOPTS DD statement.

    2. OAE creates dummy CIs for expanded CIs by calling DBFUMRI0
(ADS create utility). OPC showed FPX0110I messages to inform
that these CIs were skipped the checking even if they exist
beyond SDEP Logical Begin (LB) and SDEP Logical End (LE).
OPC has been modified to issue the FPX0110I message only for
the CIs that exists in the range of SDEP LB and LE.

     The following message is changed:

FPX0110I CI formatted by Create Utility was encountered,
CI was skipped. RBA of CI: nnnnnnnn

Explanation: A control interval that contains dummy data
formatted by the DEDB Area Data Set Create Utility was
encountered, but it was not processed. The dummy data CI
that is specified by the subsystem ID "CREATFMT" is in the
subsystem name filed in the SDEP CI prefix, and the CI was
formatted during the copy phase of the DEDB Area Data Set
Create Utility. This CI implies that it was preallocated and
will be overlaid by the SDEP CI image that contains real SDEP
     | segments or SDEP preallocated dummy CI image that contains
     | expanded CIs by Online Area Extender(OAE) SDEP expansion.

System action: Processing continues, but the "CREATFMT"
dummy CI will be skipped on this run.
User response: This message is informational.
