Error description

  • An error occurred in a structure (in this case it was injected
using the INJERROR utility). During recovery, the following
    abend occurred:

    DUMP TITLE=CSQ3,ABN=5C6-00C51196,S=00000825,C=R3600.710.CFM -CS
               QERWI1,M=CSQGFRCV,LOC=CSQELPLM.CSQERWI1+00004EB2

Reason 00C51196 was set when CSQERWI1 tried to update the
version number of a retrieved entry from the UOW list header in
the CSQ_ADMIN structure. The eUOW (unit of work control block)
was deleted from underneath CSQERWI1 by the internal batch
    delete processing.

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
The queue manager does some in-syncpoint work for a shared queue
on CF structure S1 and commits it.
Before the eUOWDs are cleared out (space limitation or backout
processing), some more in-syncpoint work is done for a different
CF structure S2. Before that unit of work is committed, the
queue manager loses connectivity to the structure S2. When the
queue manager reconnects, recovery is driven and CSQERWI1 reads
the eUOWD entries for this queue manager.
When it finds one, it is processed. As part of the processing,
the structure number is verified. If there is a mismatch, for
instance if the eUOWD is from the work that was done on S1, the
eUOWD version change is undone. In this case, before the version
change could be reversed, backout processing had removed the
entry from the admin structure, causing the version reset call
    to fail with IxlRsnCodeNoEntry.
This return code is unexpected and the queue manager abends with
    5C6-00C51196.

Problem conclusion

  • The code was changed to tolerate the eUOWDs being deleted before
the version numbers can be reset, preventing the abend from
    occurring.
