• The DB2 Administration Tool for z/OS' GEN function will issue
  a message:

Local fix

• DROP and CREATE the TRIGGER using the '<>' symbols rather than
  the '=!' symbols.

    RECOMMENDATION:
  
  When performing GEN on a TRIGGER, it fails when a TRIGGER
  statement contains a hex value '5A'x for an exclamation point
  in a CCSID 277 environment.
  

Problem conclusion

• Problem has been resolved.
  GEN has been updated to recognize '5A'x as an exclamation
  point (!  for SQL statements encoded in DB2 with CCSID 277.
