Error description

  • During character conversion running under an authorization
thread (a type of CT), the buffer being obtained for character
conversion working storage was not being freed.  After a period
of time, DB2 ran out of storage.  The storage was obtained by
DSNXVTRS UK77426+0002FDE, the block is VSFB.

Local fix

  • Recycle DB2 on a regular basis until the fix is applied.

A storage shortage may be detected by a request using a command
requiring authorization checking. In some instances, these
requests do not free storage obtained from global storage pools
leading to a slow storage leak over time.

Problem conclusion

  • Deallocation has been modified to clean up storage for
global pools.
