PM88759: RUNNING HGCB THE FIRST TIME AFTER A CICS REGION IS RECYCLED, IT DOES NOT PICK UP THE UPDATED DATE FROM THE AGGDATE FILE

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• HGCB is the new CICS transaction that can be used to set the
  date in the CICS region.  It picks up the date from the AGGDATE
  file.  If the CICS region is recycled and HGCB is run, the
  AGGDATE date is not picked up.  If HGCB is run a second time
  then it works properly.
  

Local fix

• Run HGCB 2 times.

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Users of the HourGlass CICS batch       *

  *                      settings right after a CICS cold        *
  *                      restart.                                *
  *                      Problem was due to the initial open     *
  *                      state of AGGDATE.  It seems CICS        *
  *                      buffers the content of the file as      *
  *                      it opens the dataset at CICS startup.   *
  *                      The first time HGCB is invoked, the     *
  *                      buffered date setting is read in        *
  *                      even though it was already changed.     *

  * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the PTF.                               *

  *                      appropriate AGGCRDxx procedure on      *
  *                      all CICS regions where the HourGlass   *
  *                      CICS batch time management feature     *
  *                      is implemented.                        *

  *                      3.  To complete the implementation,    *
  *                      stop and cold restart the CICS         *
  *                      regions where the HourGlass batch      *
  *                      time management feature is             *
  *                      implemented.                           *
