PM88496: ICE046A WHEN SORTIN IS A VSAM DATASET THAT WAS NOT PROPERLY CLOSED - STATISTICS MAY BE INVALID FLAG ON AMDINVST (AMDBIND)

Error description

• Received:
  ICE046A n SORT CAPACITY EXCEEDED - RECORD COUNT xxxxx
  .
  DFSORT did not allocate enough storage for the job to
  successfully process the input data set, resulting in
  an ICE046A. The input VSAM data set has the invalid
  statistics flag on. When this flag is on DFSORT uses
  the greater of the HURBA or the USER-DATA-SIZE. DFSORT
  used the HURBA in this case and calculated an estimated
  filesize which was quite short of the actual filesize.
  This resulted in an ICE046A abend.
  
  In this case the REC-TOTAL was correct, even though the
  bad statistics flag was on. DFSORT will be updated to
  use the greater of the REC-TOTAL, HURBA, or USER-DATA-SIZE.
  

Local fix

• Correct the catalog statistics for the VSAM data set.
