  • PRODUCT ENHANCEMENT
GDPS is enhanced to utilize the Query Host Access capability
of IBM DS8000 disk storage to determine if target devices for
certain script verbs or commands are online to systems where
    they should not be.

The enhancement includes monitoring for devices that are online
to unexpected systems, and a panel option to query which systems
    have a device online.

This PTF provides Query Host Access support for 2 site GDPS
only. MGM and MzGM environments are not included in the support.

    PRODUCT DEPENDENCY
Along with this PTF, exploitation of the GDPS Query Host Access
function also requires installation of the PTF for System Data
    Mover APAR OA40509: UA69368 for z/OS 1.12, UA69369 for z/OS 1.13
    and UA69370 for z/OS 2.1

    MICROCODE SUPPORT REQUIRED
GDPS Query Host Access function requires supporting Licensed
Machine Code on the disk storage managed by GDPS. This is
available on IBM DS8000 disk storage as follows:

    DS8700: R6.3 Bundle 76.31.79.0 LMC 6.6.31.670 and higher
    DS8800: R6.3 Bundle 86.31.95.0 LMC 7.6.31.1150 and higher
    DS8870: R7.1 Bundle 87.10.87.0 LMC 7.7.10.287
    DS8870: R7.2 TBD

Contact IBM storage hardware support to confirm the capabilities
of your current disk subsystem, or for recommended LMC upgrades
    that provide the required function.

Note - this PTF may be installed even if the required LMC is not
present. However, the Query Host Access function of GDPS will
not be operational until the required LMC is installed on all
disk subsystems in the GDPS configuration.

    MULTIPLE SYSTEM INSTALL REQUIRED
The GDPS Query Host Access function will be executed only
when this PTF is installed on all systems in the GDPS sysplex.
However, a staged rollout is possible without losing any
    existing functions.

    DOCUMENTATION UPDATES
Documentation for the GDPS Query Host Access function is avail-
able in the January 2014 and later revisions of the GDPS/PPRC,
GDPS/XRC, GDPS Global Mirror, and GDPS/PPRC HyperSwap Manager
Installation and Customization Guides (ZG24-6703, ZG24-6704,
ZG24-6739, ZG24-6746), as well as the GDPS Messages and Codes
manual (ZG24-1756). These are available for download by licensed
clients from the GDPS FTP sites.

Changes include, but are not limited to, the following:

    - Description of automatic Query Host Access exploitation
    - New QO (Query Online) panel line command
    - New messages GEO274W and GEO275E

    - QHA validation for DASD script statements START SECONDARY,
SWITCH HYPERSWAP RESYNCH, and FCESTABLISH (GDPS/PPRC)
    - QHA validation for XRC script statements FC0SUSPEND SECONDARY,
      and FCESTABLISH SECONDARY (GDPS/XRC)
    - QHA validation for HYPERSW and FLSHCOPY commands (GDPS/HM)

    - New MONITOR script statement (GDPS/PPRC and GDPS/XRC)
    - New GDPSCHG CKD QHAENABLE/QHADISABLE command options (GDPS/HM)
