Error description

  • Trigger messages only being generated every 20 seconds when
    TRIGINT is set to 15000. This only occurs when the trigger
    messages are generated by backstop triggering (i.e. the internal
    process in the queue-manager, CSQMTRGI, which periodically
    checks to see if any trigger-first queues have not had a trigger
    message within the TriggerInt). The problem is due to some
    rounding down that is occurring when calculating the time of
    the next trigger, and will occur if TriggerInt is not wholly
    divisible by 2 (note that the backstop trigger is only invoked
    every 5 seconds, so it's not possible to have trigger messages
    generated by backstop triggering any more frequent than that).

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When using a trigger event of trigger *
    *                      type first on a queue, a trigger        *
    * interval may be rounded up to the *
    *                      nearest 10 seconds.                     *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    On trigger type FIRST, due to a timing calculation when checking
    whether the trigger interval has expired each interval,
    triggering is rounded up to the nearest 10 second interval for a
    TriggerInterval greater than 5000 milliseconds when the
    TriggerInterval is an odd multiple of 5000 milliseconds.

Problem conclusion

  • The code has been changed so that the TriggerInterval will be
    rounded up to the nearest 5 second interval in this situation.
