Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: Users of the DB2 Administration Tool for *
    * z/OS who use the 'Alter Table ALT' (ALT) *
    * function to convert a table space from *
    * segmented to partitioned and redefine *
    *                 an existing non-partitioning index that      *
    * was created on a table in the table space *
    *                 to a partitioning index.                     *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When using the ALT function to *
    * convert a table space from segmented *
    * to partitioned, DB2 Admin does not *
    * redefine an existing index that was *
    * created on a table in the table space *
    *                      to a partitioning index.                *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    DB2 Admin does not convert a segmented table space to an index-
    controlled partitioned table space when using the ALT function
    because there is no entry to define a partitioning index after
    the table space conversion.

Problem conclusion

  • Problem has been resolved.
    A new panel ADB2CONF Alter tablespace - Partitioning methods'
    is added which will pop up when coverting a segmented table
    space to a partitioned table space on panel ADB21SAR 'Table
    Space'. Choose Option 2 'Use index-controlled partitioning' to
    define a partitioning index, resulting in the table space using
    index-controlled partitioning.
