Error description

• Promote. Creating a new JCL PDS does not work.  Get an error:
  Function : ADB2CPS, LINE 391: EDIT DATAID(ISR00035)
   Retcode  : 16
   Zerrmsg  : ISRE170
   Zerrsm   : No members in data set
   Zerrlm   : The PDS specified contains no members.
  

Local fix

• Users can work around the issues by specifying the member
  name for the output data sets for "Promote JOB JCL" and
  "Delta change".
  For example,
  Output data set names:
    Promote JOB JCL . LOBXML.PR2.JCL(MEMBER1)
    Delta change  . . LOBXML.PR2.DELTA.CHG(MEMBER1)

  * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *

  Validations are required in the PROMOTE feature to ensure output
  data sets with the correct attributes can be specified by the
  user and a delta change can be generated successfully.
  

Problem conclusion

• ADB2CPS panel provides user the facility to generate a delta
  change by specifying a start and end version. Output data sets
  that can be specified by the user are "Promote JOB JCL" and
  "Delta change". Data sets entered can be either non-existing,
  in which case default attributes are used by DB2 Admin to
  create the data sets, or existing, in which case attributes of
  the specified data sets are validated and the appropriate error
  message is displayed on the panel.
  
  Valid attributes of output data sets are as follows:
  
  Promote JOB JCL:
  - Sequential or Partitioned
  - Record format = Fixed (F, FB)
  - Record length = 80
  
  Delta change:
  - Sequential or Partitioned
  - Record format = Variable (V)
  - Record length = 16384 to 32760
  
  Depending on the information of the output data set specified,
  one of the following actions happens:
  
  - ADBC044E error message is displayed, specifying valid
  attribute values for existing data set.
  
  "Unsupported data set"
  "Data set is not RECFM=F,LRECL=80" (for Promote JOB JCL)
  OR
  "Data set is not RECFM=V,LRECL=16384 through 32760" (for Delta
  change)
  
  - ADBG004E error message is displayed, when member name is not
  specified for existing partitioned data set.
  
  "Missing member name"
  "A member name is required for the PDS"
  
  - ADB2CONF pop up panel, asking the user to confirm replacing
  the contents of an existing valid data set.

  The data set or member already exists:
   'USRT001.PROMOTE.JCL(J1)'
  
  Choose replace or cancel.
  
  Select a choice
    1.  Replace contents of the data set.
    2.  Cancel
  
  - New data sets (or members) are created for the non-existing
  data sets after submitting the generated promote JCL.
  
  Validations are added as explained above to ensure corrective
  actions are taken by the user to generate the delta change
  file successfully.
