    ****************************************************************
Assume a dependent object D depends on an object B, object D
must be dropped and recreated so that object B can be changed
by dropping and recreating. The DB2 Object Comparison Tool
does have the information that object D depends on object B,
but does not detect that object D is not defined in the target
version file. Object D is dropped but not recreated.

Problem conclusion

  • Problem have been resolved.
The DB2 Object Comparison Tool is changed to determine that
object D is not defined in the target. Instead of dropping
object D, the DB2 Object Comparison Tool issues the following
    new message:

ADB7199E DEPENDENT object_type object_name IS NOT INCLUDED IN
TARGET. OBJECT IS NOT DROPPED BECAUSE IT CAN NOT BE RECREATED.

The return code is set to 8, but processing continues.
Any attempt to apply the change results in a SQLCODE=-478 /
    SQLERRORN478 from DB2, for example:

    DSNT408I SQLCODE = -478, ERROR:
THE RESULT TYPE type-1 OF THE SOURCE FUNCTION
CANNOT BE CAST TO THE RETURNS TYPE type-2 OF
    THE USER-DEFINED FUNCTION function-name
    DSNT418I SQLSTATE = 42866
    SQLSTATE RETURN CODE

To resolve this problem, include all objects in the target
that depend on objects being changed.
